Immigration Raid – 390 People Detained in Postville, Iowa

Before I get too detailed on how this all went down, I just wanted to give a brief intro. I plan to put up several different posts about this – so keep checking back if you’re into it.

After seeing and experiencing so much of this myself, knowing that there was nothing major that I was going to be able to do personally to help these people, I knew that my role in this tragedy would be to share those experiences with others who haven’t been present through it all. It is one thing to hear about this on the news – but it’s a whole different deal when it’s all happening right in your backyard, and you’re caught up in the middle of it. It became apparent to me that our role in sharing this story was so important, after watching the nightly national news, and never seeing even a short story about it. The story of these people needs to be shared – change needs to take place in immigration law, or people will continue to be forced to come into our country illegally, as they sometimes have no other option to survive. If no action is taken, these raids will continue to happen, and families will continue to be torn apart. If these stories aren’t shared, the rest of the nation will not be able to see how urgent the need is for policy change. Please help in sharing their stories…

If there's anybody interested in giving monetary assistance, checks and cash may be mailed to any of the following. They will get the money to the families affected in Postville. The money will help with basic personal items, food and bills.

Hello,

I work with pro-migrant bloggers over at The Sanctuary if you'd like to check it out.

There's a recent post with a long and detailed article from one of the translators at this terrible raid.
